As you might imagine, I’ve been getting quite a few questions about how this month’s election impacts Human Coalition’s mission to rescue unborn babies from abortion.

In short, it doesn’t.

We remain as committed as ever to saving as many babies as humanly possible, while also saving parents from the grief and suffering that abortion usually causes.

While Roe v. Wade is legal in our nation, it is inherently immoral.  Not all laws are good laws, and Roe v. Wade is the worst of laws.  It legally allows the most innocent among us to be killed at will with no real justification. Government is supposed to protect its citizens.  In America today, though, the almighty “choice” trumps life.  Our values are upside down, and those values are reflected in the courts and in the government at large.

I hope and pray this law will one day be overturned for the good of the country (and the world).

But if we thought the government or the courts would be the catch-all solution to ending abortion, we were sadly mistaken.  Laws follow culture.  Abortion is legal because the culture wanted abortion to be legal.  And, evidently, it still does.

If you want to end abortion, change the culture.  And a very effective way of changing culture is by extending grace, truth, compassion, and help to individuals who need it.  And that is exactly what Human Coalition does.

Should we continue to vote our values so that innocent lives are protected?  Yes.  Should we work to see unjust and immoral laws overturned?  Absolutely.

But we must also be firmly, unreservedly, passionately committed to reaching abortion-determined people where they are.  Each baby saved is a generation preserved.  Each baby saved represents a changed heart in a mother or father.  Each baby saved means dollars removed from the abortion system.  Each baby saved is a miracle.

If you put your faith in government or the courts to end abortion, you will lose that faith.  But if you meet a mom who was going to abort her child and, through wise counsel, love, and practical help, instead chose life for her child, your faith will be encouraged.  And you begin to understand how to truly change hearts and how to change culture.

I see a lot of disheartened life-affirming people at the moment.  Don’t be one of them.  Be encouraged.  And get involved.  We press onward to end abortion in America, baby by baby, mom by mom, dad by dad.

We will end abortion in America one family at a time.  Regardless of who is in office.
