I was sitting on a plane en route to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday morning, when I heard the news: the nation’s largest abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood, had been caught on video admitting they provide aborted baby parts to third parties, including stem cell research companies. If you haven’t already done so, I strongly encourage you to watch the undercover video and hear the ghastly admissions made by one of Planned Parenthood’s top abortion hacks, Deborah Nucatola, Senior Director of Medical Services. While eating a salad and casually swirling her glass of red wine, she discusses harvesting organs and carefully dismembering babies in the same way you and I might discuss our favorite TV show.

Planned Parenthood has since released statements that are typical and predictable—deny, deflect, defend. Here is a partial transcript of how they responded:

“In health care, patients sometimes want to donate tissue to scientific research that can help lead to medical breakthroughs, such as treatments and cures for serious diseases. Women at Planned Parenthood who have abortions are no different. At several of our health centers, we help patients who want to donate tissue for scientific research, and we do this just like every other high-quality health care provider does — with full, appropriate consent from patients and under the highest ethical and legal standards. There is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either the patient or for Planned Parenthood. In some instances, actual costs, such as the cost to transport tissue to leading research centers, are reimbursed, which is standard across the medical field.”

This breaking story perfectly illustrates what I’ve been discussing in my most recent blog series, Discrimination: The Most Hated People Group in America. In it, I make the case that our society hates preborn children. Why do I say that?

1. If we discovered that families were killing their two-year-olds and donating or selling their organs to benefit scientific research, how would America respond? I suspect the entire country would rise up as one voice and work together to stop the killing.

Will our country finally be so horrified at this latest atrocity that we rise up en masse to protect the preborn?

Seriously—is this the first time Planned Parenthood has been caught doing something nefarious? Remember the exposé that showed how Planned Parenthood turned a blind eye to sex-selection abortions, or the video investigations showing Planned Parenthood workers willingly aiding and abetting sex trafficking of minor girls?

Uncovering the abortion industry’s ongoing, horrific, and logic-defying activities is a full-time job for several courageous organizations. And there have been some great successes in shutting down abortion clinics and bringing into question the actions of the abortion giant. But Planned Parenthood still kills over 300,000 preborn children a year, and they receive a large portion of their funding from our tax dollars. They continue to infiltrate public schools, churches, and our communities with their immoral programs, while fulfilling Founder Margaret Sanger’s racist, eugenics vision. And on the whole, our society allows it.

Would we take immediate and final action if two-year-olds were being killed instead? Of course we would. Why don’t we now? Because our society considers preborn children to be worthless.

Why should we be shocked at this latest video? Planned Parenthood’s immoral action and our society’s apathy are both normal aspects of American life.

2. Look carefully at Planned Parenthood’s statement. Do you notice how they once again make abortion (and the selling of organs) about the woman? I wrote about this marketing method of theirs earlier this week. They claim the mothers all sign off on the donation of organs from their aborted babies, thus the practice is ethical and appropriate. Yet once again, they ignore the willful killing of the child (in some cases, possibly through the illegal practice of partial-birth abortion), and they place all of the attention on the woman. They relentlessly and successfully dupe the American people into viewing their heinous practices as “a woman’s right.” There may be no greater example of the Power Group ignoring and rejecting the Victim Group than harvesting the Victim Group’s organs.

3. Planned Parenthood then uses its bully pulpit to tell us we are foolish. Note another portion of Planned Parenthood’s response in defense of its actions:

“A well funded group established for the purpose of damaging Planned Parenthood’s mission and services has promoted a heavily edited, secretly recorded videotape that falsely portrays Planned Parenthood’s participation in tissue donation programs that support lifesaving scientific research. Similar false accusations have been put forth by opponents of abortion services for decades. These groups have been widely discredited and their claims fall apart on closer examination, just as they do in this case.”

According to Planned Parenthood, the anti-abortion groups are lying, previous similar actions have been discredited, and Planned Parenthood’s selling of aborted babies’ organs is justified because it supports lifesaving research.

When you are the Power Group and you have money, influence, and media relationships to craft your own version of truth, you can simply bury the real truth under well-funded marketing slogans and press releases.

When a society hates a Victim Group, they will ignore even the most graphic evils inflicted on the Victim Group. Will we ignore yet another awful example of the 42-year history of fatal violence against the weakest and most innocent among us?

I’m encouraged that this story is getting traction and that investigations into Planned Parenthood have been promised. Let’s pray the number of abortions performed in our country is drastically reduced as a result. And kudos to the brave folks who uncovered this story.

But until we, as a society, finally extend the same code of justice and ethical treatment to the preborn that we reserve for ourselves, this story will simply fade away, and we will remain a culture that hates our own preborn children.

What can you do to help stop this? Help save babies.

We reach scared and vulnerable mothers and fathers who are searching the Internet for abortion-related terms, and we connect them with a nearby life-affirming pregnancy center where they are given a choice they might not know they have: to save the life of their child.

Does it work? Yes. In fact, our approach has helped save more than 3,000 babies from abortion. They now have names, families, hope, and a future very different from one in which they are killed and their organs are harvested for the purposes of furthering research and financial gain.

Supporters of Human Coalition often tell me they had no idea they could do something to help stop abortion. That’s why I’m writing to you today—to let you know that you can change the future of a preborn child and help save a life. Will you?
