There is an old business maxim that says, “Every organization embodies the characteristics of its leader.” This is true for any organized group, whether it’s a family, church, nonprofit, business, or nation. To some degree, we who follow cannot help but take on some of the characteristics of those who lead us.
Thus, we can learn a lot about an organization by studying its founders and history. Take Margaret Sanger, for example, the founder of Planned Parenthood. Sanger was a racist, sexually liberal, rabid eugenicist. Yet she is frequently lauded, defended, and praised.
I believe that sometimes the people who run to her defense are also running from the facts.
[tweetthis twitter_handles=”@OnlineforLife”]”People who run to Margaret Sanger’s defense are also running from the facts.”[/tweetthis]
I recently read this NPR article about Margaret Sanger, which vainly attempts to sanitize her history and comments . The author, Amita Kelly, leaves out some crucial details that actually shed some light on Planned Parenthood’s sale of body parts today.
Let’s talk about those Planned Parenthood videos for a minute. No doubt you’ve heard about and perhaps even watched some of the recent undercover videos that exposed Planned Parenthood for harvesting and selling fetal body parts for profit. I’ve dedicated my last four blog posts to discussing this horrific demonstration of fetal trafficking, and I’ve received many thoughtful comments from HC supporters like you, which I deeply appreciate.
One particular question that has been repeatedly asked in our comments section is “How did we get here?” In other words, how did America—a nation committed to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” a nation that for all intents and purposes was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, a nation that prides itself on being a beacon of freedom and virtue to the rest of the world—get to the place where we talk flippantly about “not crushing” the bodies of preborn humans so we can extract more from these specimens?
And how did we get to the place where—even after seeing with our own eyes and hearing with our own ears the callous laughter and indifferent chitchat of procurement technicians as they pick over an aborted baby’s body parts—54 percent of Americans still support Planned Parenthood?
First of all, evil of this magnitude doesn’t happen overnight. It never has. When slavery was brought to the United States in 1619, it wasn’t delivered to colonists on a 200-foot slave ship outfitted with chains, crowded bunks, and whips to keep its “cargo” in line. No, slavery first came to our country in the form of indentured servitude, with a promise to work for seven years in exchange for a trip to and establishment in the New World. Within a century, that system evolved into the horrific practice of slavery that has left an immutable stain on our society.
Similarly, Germany’s Third Reich didn’t come to power one day and then Hitler began slaughtering Jews the next. No, it happened slowly over time. First, through economic persecution, then through Kristallnacht. Next, the Jews were segregated into ghettos, and slowly, town by town, they were deported on trains that took them to concentration camps… and almost certain death.
The same can be said about legalized abortion in America. Since the early 1900s, there has been a slow uptick in the acceptance of abortion in our culture. It began when radical eugenicists hijacked the women’s rights movement, followed by the strategic establishment of abortion clinics within predominantly African-American communities. And finally, gentle euphemisms were introduced into our society that delineate preborn babies as “tissue” and abortion as “choice.”
Let’s put things in perspective as to where the United States now stands when compared to the rest of the world in terms of the number of babies aborted each year. According to a 1999 report by the Guttmacher Institute, China, with its one-child policy, aborts 7.9 million babies a year. Coming in second at 2.2 million babies a year is Russia, a country where years of Communism eroded the moral fabric of society. Vietnam aborts 1.5 million babies a year, followed closely by the United States aborting an estimated 1.2 million preborn babies every year. You read that right, when it comes to abortion, the United States is in the same category as Communist China, Boris Yeltsin’s Russia, and Vietnam, a country where a two-child policy was only recently lifted.
[tweetthis twitter_handles=”@OnlineforLife”]When it comes to abortion America is 4th behind Communist China, Russia, and Vietnam.[/tweetthis]
Due to the recent undercover Planned Parenthood videos, the conversation surrounding abortion is no longer consigned to “the right to life.” We have entered an entirely new domain of discussing the very practice of aborting preborn children, harvesting their body parts, and bargaining over them like cattle at an auction. In the 42 years since the legalization of abortion, preborn children have gone from being considered a mere inconvenience to a commodity that allows Planned Parenthood to rake in $90 million in profit a year. By the way, this same “nonprofit” abortion provider receives over $500 million of our tax dollars each year.
Obviously, abortion is not a political issue but a sin issue that tears at the moral fabric of our country. Most pro-life individuals understand that concept on some level. But like all societal sins, abortion must first be helped along by human hands to reach its apex of evil. Slavery had greedy politicians, the Jewish Holocaust had the Third Reich, and abortion has Planned Parenthood.

That brings me back to Margaret Sanger, a failed nurse who evolved into an ultra-liberal, sexually deviant racist. A woman who spent the majority of her adult life working toward cleansing the world of “inferior” races and ridding families of their “moronic children.”
Sanger has made headlines lately in the wake of the Planned Parenthood sting videos. In fact, on August 27, 2015, a group of prominent black pastors protested in front of the National Portrait Gallery and demanded that the bust of Margaret Sanger be removed from the gallery where both Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. are honored.
Why does this 19th century woman evoke such contention? Stay tuned for next week’s installment on the racist roots of Margaret Sanger to learn more about this genocidal figure and how her eugenic philosophy continues to fuel Planned Parenthood today.
I don’t think abortion should be legal. A nd its not a womans issue its a childrens issue
I too have also had a somewhat turnaround in my opinion and belief regarding abortion. I must sadly admit that at one time I believed abortion was a viable alternative to bringing an unwanted innocent child into a world where right from the very start, one or more of the… Read more »
Check out a video our pastor has done called The Dark Secrets of Planned Parenthood. Done by Good Fight Ministries and it exposes the history of the organization which is tied to the occult and other evil influences. Worth the watch!
Excellent article. Thanks Brian Fisher for your unwavering Pro-Life stand. We’re proud of you for the many lives you are saving by making people aware of the evils of Planned Parenthood. Your article is well-researched.
Thank you, Sr. Athens, for the kind words. Let’s press on together!
Millions of babies murdered for mostly irresponsibly selfish motives, and now Planned Parenthood is selling their human body parts. If this is not evil, then tell me what is? “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:19) The Lord Jesus said: Unless… Read more »

San Diego has a similar organization to help with post-abortion syndrome – a dis-ease that the APA refuses to acknowledge exists (because that would be counterproductive to their one world agenda) – called Silent Voices. Good a.m. Sir Brian F.! My heart still groans in me to go back and work with the Church with the Billings Method. I’m interested to have the mentioned video about selling of fetus and full term infant body parts for Philippine families to wake up from this Holocaust epidemic!
Hi Leo – if you are interested in the videos, you can find them at Center for Medical Progress, or http://www.centerformedicalprogress.org/. Thanks!
Thanks Brian for a good article on how we got to this point in our history. My comment speaks to why we may “stay here” and abortion will never become unthinkable. The deafening silence of clergy and their respective denominations is a reason why we got here and may stay… Read more »
I couldn’t agree more. Now is the time for Christians to rise up together and end this holocaust.
Hi Brian, Thank you for your hard work and I will be praying and supporting the cause. Is it true that abortion statistics have dropped and is continuing to drop every year? I know that from 1977 it was very high and then in the 80’s it fluctuated. But since… Read more »
Thanks Michelle, for your encouragement. Yes abortion rates have either been stagnant or declining since the 1980’s. We have a lot more work to do to make it unthinkable and unavailable, but we are cooperatively making great progress!

Your point is correct and very, very sad. And it will only be undone when our culture correctly finds abortion to be reprehensible and demands, en masse, our government stop the funding of the atrocities.

Abortion is nothing short of murder/killing in the womb. Jesus is a gracious, forgiving , merciful Eloheim, but unless people have a change of heart, they will perish. Because Jesus requires Mercy/Obedience, not Sacrifice, for it is written: “I did NOT come to call the righteous, but sinners to REPENTENCE.”
