Communications Manager (Plano, TX)

Location: Plano, TX

Type: Full Time

Reporting to the Vice President of Donor Development, the Communications Manager is responsible for managing all external-facing and non-clinic/client communications activities, including online fundraising, social media presence, public relations, and digital donor communications, as well as playing a key role in the development of marketing collateral materials for the organization.

Essential functions:

  • Develop and implement long-term and project-based communications strategies
  • Develop and produce content to engage and educate audiences across various channels, including newsletters, blogs, graphics, website, social media, and events
  • Develop and execute social media activities across multiple channels
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of all Human Coalition web properties
  • Develop and execute email programs and strategies through campaigns  and actions, including editing appeals and other calls-to-action
  • Research and collect information and data for content and communications strategy
  • Help manage and drive events and campaign rollouts, including developing marketing materials and list segmentation
  • Identify and research media outlets, producers, editors, and reporters receptive to Human Coalition’s message
  • Proofread and coordinate production of communication materials
  • Other projects as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field
  • Experience managing teams of 3+ people
  • Proven experience with communications research and strategy; media relations; developing content for various audiences; digital engagement best practices
  • Team player with a positive can-do attitude, ability to work independently to produce high-quality work products, and manage multiple projects

Minimum qualifications

  • Belief in the mission of Human Coalition
  • 3 – 5 years of marketing and/or communications experience, digital marketing experience highly preferred
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Committed to excellence, and eager to constantly learn and grow

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ years of management or lead experience
  • PR and media relations experience
  • Event marketing experience
  • Experience in brand management
  • Background working for start-up or mid-size organizations a plus
