National Director of Marketing Communications (Plano, TX)

Human Coalition is thrilled to be expanding, adding a vital member to its Senior Leadership Team with the National Director of Marketing Communications.

This role, reporting to the Vice President of Development, will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing Human Coalition’s comprehensive marketing strategies and communications activities, both internal and external. This individual will utilize data and audience behavior to analyze and validate effectiveness of the marketing strategy while implementing learning. This position serves to lead the marketing and communications teams to chart the direction of Human Coalition marketing, communication, and branding.

Key Capabilities and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or public relations preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience in marketing and communications with demonstrated success
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing (digital and mail), communications and public relations activities
  • Experience developing and managing budgets and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing, making presentations and negotiating with partners
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials, digital content and publications

Essential Functions

 Marketing Communications

  • Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:
    • A comprehensive marketing, communications program that will enhance Human Coalition’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public; and
    • All of Human Coalition’s marketing, communications activities and materials including publications, media relations, donor acquisition,
  • Ensure articulation of Human Coalition’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the organization, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external
  • Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all organization digital and print publications
  • Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests
  • Coordinate the appearance of all Human Coalition print and electronic materials such as websites, brochures, email, mail, letterhead, use of logo,
  • Develop, coordinate and oversee marketing, communication, and branding, provide technical assistance and resource materials to Human Coalition’s Women’s Care Clinics
  • Ensure Human Coalition regularly conducts relevant market research, analysis of audience data, coordinate and oversee this activity as well as monitor trends
  • Leads projects and special events as assigned

Planning and Budgeting

  • Responsible for the achievement and evaluation of marketing/communications, goals and financial objectives
  • Develop short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing/communications program and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance
  • Recommend short- and long-term organization goals and objectives to the Vice President of Development
  • Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary for the smooth operation of the marketing/communications function
  • Keep informed of developments in the field of marketing, communications, not-for-profit management and governance, and use the information to help Human Coalition operate with initiative and innovation

Organizational Strategy

  • Work with senior staff, other staff and volunteers to:
    • Develop and maintain a strategic perspective, based on marketplace and constituent needs and satisfaction, in organizational direction, programs and services and decision-making; and
    • Ensure the overall health and vitality of Human Coalition
  • Help ensure that the Human Coalition culture, mission and vision and pertinent and practiced throughout the organization
  • Develop and coordinate means to seek regular input from Human Coalition’s key constituencies regarding the quality of programs and services
  • Help formulate and administer policies to ensure the integrity of Human Coalition
  • Act as an internal consultant to bring attention and solutions to Human Coalition


  • Recruit, train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel
  • Ensure effective management within the marketing, communications function, with provision for succession
  • Design, support and oversee cross-functional teams throughout the organization
  • Effectively enable volunteers and staff so they can take action on behalf of the organization
