The pro-abortion factions advance the narrative that abortion is a “woman’s issue,” and that a woman’s decision to end her baby’s life should be safely guarded between her and her doctor. Unfortunately, these talking points don’t match reality.
The fact is, every time a woman aborts a baby, she ends the life of a grandchild, a sibling, and a cousin; and she prematurely stops a family tree from extending its branches into the next generation. The fact is, abortion impacts far more people than just a mom and child. It stretches its tragic tentacles into the far corners of families, churches, and communities.
This month at Human Coalition, we’re focusing on the vital importance that family plays in our mission to rescue children from abortion. For every woman who visits our women’s care clinic, there is a father, a grandparent, and a sibling who will also be impacted by the mom’s decision. Abortion survivor and mom of two, Melissa Ohden, says it best when she writes, “One decision, one single moment, can have such a detrimental impact on so many people, living and dead, born and yet to be conceived.”
We are committed to helping both the woman in crisis and her family. For we know that every time we rescue a child from abortion, we restore a family for today and for generations to come. Often we find ourselves counseling not only the client, but also her relatives as we teach them “children are a heritage from the LORD” (Psalm 127:3 NIV), and we are called to “defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked” (Psalm 82:3-4 NIV).
While many families enjoy summer camps and vacations, our team remains hard at work connecting with and counseling abortion-determined women and their families. In fact, July is one of our busiest months of the year, as more hurting women and their families visit our clinic seeking life-affirming, Christ-centered care.
Our clinic just experienced a record-breaking quarter, rescuing 115 lives from abortion between April and June. This is the result of improved marketing, more effective counseling, and increased prayerful and financial support. As we enter these final summer months, it is more critical than ever that more people stay involved by praying, volunteering and giving to our lifesaving mission.
I am so grateful that even though many of our friends go on vacation, God does not. He is bringing more abortion-determined women and their families through our doors than ever before. But with them come needs that can only be met if we have an army of supporters praying, giving, and volunteering.
Thank you in advance for standing with us as we fight for the lives of the preborn and the restoration of families. You are helping us make a difference in our communities, as we usher in a culture of LIFE throughout Dallas/Fort Worth.
