“Isabella” sat in bewilderment. She wasn’t supposed to get pregnant at 41 years of age. But she did. Pregnancy wasn’t in her plans, and she had no idea how she would get through it.
She had no family or friends to talk to or go to for help. As a single mom of three, she was on her own. How was she going to afford another child? Where would she get the medical help she needed, let alone mental support?
Isabella suffered terribly from postpartum depression after the birth of her previous children, and she couldn’t imagine going through that again. She knew that pregnancy at 41 was considered medically high-risk. On top of that, she had issues with high blood pressure, dizzy spells, and headaches — signs of pre–eclampsia, which could lead to serious or even fatal complications for both the mother and baby.
Isabella was terrified and anxiously turned to the internet for answers about abortion. She never thought about it with her other children, but this time it was different. What was involved in an abortion? How much did it cost, and could she afford it? Would she have to go out of state, or could she get the abortion pills mailed into her own state of Texas?
Overwhelmed, Isabella called a number that promised compassion without judgment and answers about abortion. Human Coalition gave her all the time she needed to talk about her unexpected circumstances.
Isabella spoke with a kindhearted counselor who comforted her by examining the realities of her situation, and together they discussed all her options. So, Isabella agreed to meet with a nurse at a pregnancy center.
There she received a free pregnancy test that confirmed she was pregnant. In addition, she was given a free ultrasound to determine how far along she was in her pregnancy.
At six weeks, Isabella met her sweet little girl for the first time through an ultrasound, saw her baby’s tiny body, and heard her heartbeat.

Her turning point to choosing life was knowing she would get much-needed support from Human Coalition throughout and far after her pregnancy.
Because of your compassion and generosity, Isabella’s circumstances changed completely when she connected with Human Coalition. Today, she is the happy mother of a beautiful, smiling baby girl. And despite symptoms of pre–eclampsia, she didn’t have to deliver her baby early and made it to full-term with no complications.
Without your generosity, Isabella would have seriously considered a mail-order chemical abortion and given up her baby in isolation. The abortion pill experience would likely have destroyed Isabella’s mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Instead, Isabella is thrilled to be the mother of a newborn girl and thankful for the encouragement and support she has received during and beyond her pregnancy. Through Human Coalition, tangible items were provided such as diapers, wipes, maternity and baby clothes, and a stroller and car seat — as well as ongoing guidance from a nutritionist, continual nursing care, and support from a lactation specialist after giving birth.
Because of you, a mother and a child’s life were both rescued from the tragedy of abortion. Without your heart for moms and children, things would have been very different for Isabella and her precious baby girl.
