Tatiana

Living in an abusive relationship with her husband was only the beginning for “Tatiana.” He was violent toward her, he cheated on her, and now she was getting a divorce to protect herself from even more cruelty.

Tatiana’s unbearable stress was amplified when she found out she was pregnant with their fourth child. Her pregnancy was unexpected, and it took everything in her to carry on.

Living with her in-laws with three kids, another on the way, and no job was more than she could handle. And to think she would bring another child into the world drove her to seriously consider abortion. There was just no way she could afford a baby, let alone handle the added responsibility.

Abortion seemed to be the answer. She could get it done in secret and no one would know. She went back and forth, arguing with herself about what to do. Finally, at 17 weeks, she decided to look for an abortion provider.

After searching online, she decided to call one that promised not to be judgmental and would supportively listen to her. That’s when she connected with Human Coalition.

The counselor who answered Tatiana’s call never offered abortion services. Instead, she compassionately listened to her and offered life-affirming solutions.

During her conversation with a counselor, Tatiana decided to visit a local pregnancy center, where she would get a free ultrasound to see how the baby was doing. Upon meeting her new little baby for the first time, Tatiana realized abortion was not the answer.

Deep down, she didn’t believe in abortion; it was against what she knew was the right thing to do. In fact, she wanted to keep her baby but just couldn’t see how that was even possible in her circumstances.

Her nurse and Continuum of Care coordinator immediately stepped in, providing emotional, spiritual, and tangible support. Tatiana had a lot of material needs due to her lack of employment and left the pregnancy center with lots of baby clothes and other much needed supplies like diapers, a car seat, and a crib.

Tatiana admitted her “attitude towards life improved” and said she would not have had “so many kind words or helpful talks if it weren’t for her nurse and other staff who showed so much compassion.”

To other women facing a similar situation, Tatiana shares, “It gets hard before it gets better — but it does get better!”

“Tatiana”

Tatiana now has a beautiful new baby, one she’s proud to mother. She was afraid her in-laws would treat her badly, since they are still living together. Instead, everyone is getting along at home — no more fighting and much less stress. She affirms that her living situation has greatly improved.

Thanks to your generosity, families like Tatiana’s can not only make it, but thrive, because you believe in our vision to make abortion unthinkable and unnecessary. In doing so, we’re able to strengthen families today and in the future.

Thank you for stepping in where it’s needed most for the next mom and her baby, rescuing both from the ravages of abortion.
