Have you ever wondered why Human Coalition’s logo is a thumbprint?
Our logo is a meaningful image that’s representative of our lifesaving mission. It is the thumbprint of the first baby Human Coalition rescued from abortion: Addison.
The Story of the First Baby Rescued
In 2009, Courtney was 19 years old and attending college when she found out she was pregnant. Terrified to tell her parents, she knew they wouldn’t approve. Planning on aborting her baby, Courtney was connected to a Human Coalition pregnancy center. She was met with compassion as a nurse explained the real implications of abortion and how it was a permanent decision.
Courtney also learned about the many resources and support available, which helped her realize she wouldn’t have to walk her motherhood journey alone.
Courtney was empowered to choose life during this appointment. Now, she can’t imagine her life without her daughter, Addison.
Today, Addison is 16 years old and thriving. Courtney describes her as a “great kid” with the “biggest heart” who has “changed my life forever.”
When we hear stories like these, we are filled with joy! We remain grateful to God that He gives us the grace to continue in this lifegiving work.
We believe that each person has a distinct calling on their lives. That each person was made by a Creator and has a unique set of characteristics—even something as unique as their very own thumbprint.
The Beauty of a Fingerprint
Everyone has their own set of fingerprints. A fingerprint is used to identify oneself and remains consistent from birth to old age.
An individual’s fingers can have one of three designs: a loop, whirl, or arch fingerprint. But what makes them so different are the lines, grooves, and ridges.
How does a fingerprint get such a unique pattern? Phys.org says:
“The random placement of the fingers in the womb as the cells push against one another to form ridges is what makes the patterns so random. And that is why even identical twins have different prints.”
The beauty of each fingerprint is a testament to God’s creativity. Just as no two fingerprints are the same, no two futures are alike.
There are thousands of stories like Addison’s that began with a mom who was in a desperate situation and looking for a way out. Since the beginning of Human Coalition in 2011, over 38,000 babies have been rescued from abortion. Through generous donors, fervent prayers, and compassionate staff, life decisions are made possible. Because of a mom’s decision for life and a yes to parent, her child is free to dream and live life to the fullest.
But we know that there are more babies who need our help.
Where Would We Be Without Them?
The sad reality is that abortion steals the future legacy of children.
Every abortion ends a human life. It throws the book away before the story can be told. Having an abortion doesn’t just end a child’s life, it impacts generations before and after it. Abortion affects the mother, the father, the grandparents, and so many others.
According to NumberofAbortions.com, 66,868,004 babies have been aborted since the overturn of Roe v. Wade in 1973. Imagine where we’d be today if those millions of preborn children lived among us. What kind of world would they have helped shape? Who might they have become—scientists, artists, leaders, friends, or perhaps parents themselves? The truth is devastating: We will never know. Their absence isn’t just a personal loss; it’s a loss for all of humanity.
God intricately knows and has a beautiful plan for each and every person. Psalm 139:13–14 (NIV) says:
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”
Every part of our being was created with intention by God. Every hair on our head, the shade of our skin, fleck of eye color, and even something as intricate as a fingerprint.
