Nadia’s Life Decision Story
Her hands and life were full.
Life can be overwhelming at times, and that’s exactly how “Nadia” was feeling. She was a single mom with three children at home—two years old, one year old, and eight months. “Busy” was an understatement. Now, Nadia was facing an unexpected pregnancy on top of everything else, and she was planning to abort her baby. What choice did she have?
She was struggling to keep her head above water, stretching every dollar to provide for her children.
Nadia was doing the best she could, but feeling defeated, stressed, and burnt out, she did what any mother in her shoes would do. She asked for help.
Calling Human Coalition’s contact center, she was connected with a nurse who quickly scheduled her for an ultrasound appointment at a nearby clinic. It was then that Nadia learned she was 17 weeks pregnant. As she looked at the sonogram picture, her fears grew. Her mind wandered to the fact that she worked for a delivery service and had to take her children along during deliveries. Questions began to arise: How could she handle life with a fourth child? Would it be wise to have so many children under the age of two? Who would support her? She wanted to believe she could parent four children. Deep down, she wondered if she had what it took.
The father of the baby wanted her to choose life, but Nadia’s mother was concerned about the additional stress another child might bring. Nadia felt torn between opposing views. But the greatest conflict waswithin herself: abortion was in opposition to what she morally believed was right. Nadia recognized that abortion was wrong and wrestled with its true implication—that abortion is the taking of a life. Whatever choice she made, she knew that she would have to move forward with conviction, as the outcome would become her new reality.
Despite the options the nurse provided, Nadia was still set on abortion. However, each time she tried scheduling an appointment for an abortion, she encountered hurdles. At this point, she was far along in her pregnancy … and she started to think:
Maybe this is the way things are supposed to be.
Maybe things aren’t working out my way for a reason.
Her moral compass, combined with the difficulty of scheduling an abortion appointment, led Nadia to reconsider her choices. Would she choose abortion out of convenience, or find the strength within herself and her God-given conviction to choose life?
She knew that God was speaking to her through all the closed doors, and He had opened the right one for her through Human Coalition. God had great plans for this child, and she began to see His perfect plan unfold before her eyes. He was making it clear, and Nadia couldn’t ignore it. She felt the weight and gravity of abortion—that it takes the life of a child—and could no longer entertain the idea of it.
Nadia chose life for her baby.
With the support of the nurses and social workers, Nadia gained newfound confidence and determination to parent her baby. She received assistance with childcare, baby supplies, and a new home to accommodate her growing family—all obstacles she needed to overcome to parent well. Her OB/GYN even helped her create a baby registry consisting of all her needs and wants for the baby.
With the staff working hard to remove obstacles, Nadia realized that choosing life was the most important and best decision ever. She knew that whatever came her way, she wouldn’t have to face it alone. That in itself was a gift. Before giving birth, Nadia thought she was having a girl. To her surprise, she gave birth to a baby boy! Her care team has remainedtrue to their promise to care for Nadia long after the birth of her baby boy.
THANK YOU for your support, prayers, and generosity. Because of you, moms like Nadia, who were once set on abortion, now have the freedom to choose their true heart’s desire: LIFE.
