When “Charla” visited our women’s care clinic, she was visibly shaken by the positive results of her home pregnancy test. Our Care Coordinator spent time with her, offering nonjudgmental, unconditional love in the midst of Charla’s messy situation. After confirming the pregnancy, we came to learn the baby’s father was serving time in prison, putting Charla’s entire future on hold.

To make matters even more complicated, Charla had left an abusive relation and now suffered from the residual anxiety that relationship left behind. With such odds stacked against her, Charla felt totally inadequate to parent her child. That’s when we stepped up to prove what she was capable of doing… with our team as her support system.

Through our Continuum of Care program, we connected Charla with local services that would assist her financially, emotionally, and spiritually. We paired Charla with one of our amazing mentors, so she would have someone to turn to when the road got tough.

Although Charla still faces many challenges, she has embraced parenting and is working hard to make a positive life for her and her baby girl.
