40 years ago on Tuesday, marks a day that radically changed the course of American history. On January 22, 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of legalized abortion as a result of the cases involving Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. As a result, more than 53 million children across the U.S. have missed their opportunity to join the world. While the ruling was thought to empower the women’s rights movement, it has instead bonded women to the chains of guilt and regret, and has lead to the death of millions of innocent unborn children.

Since 1983, Americans have deemed the Sunday in January closest to the day on which abortion was legalized as the Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (SOHLS). This day was designated to celebrate the inherent value of human life regardless of life stage, and offer a day of reflection for the lives we are fortunate enough to encounter, and those we cannot. It also serves as a day for our nation to stand up against the atrocity these rulings have brought to our nation.

Today, January 20, 2013, we ask you to stand with us.

This nationally recognized day serves as the perfect opportunity to get your community involved in rallying for the sanctity of human life. Take the opportunity to share your pro-life stance on the issue, spread the word about your community’s life-affirming pregnancy resource centers, and offer hope that will truly empower the men and women around you struggling with unplanned pregnancies to choose life for their unborn.

Silence implies consent. Will you commit to being a voice for children who cannot yet speak for themselves?

If you’re interested in ways you can get involved, here are a few ideas generated by the team at Human Coalition:

1. Rally with other pro-life advocates to bring awareness to the issue year-round.

2. Use social mediums to spread the word on ways you plan promote life in your community.

3. Commit to sharing life-affirming stories found on Facebook and Twitter.

4. Partner with organizations like Human Coalition that are determined to abolish abortion.

5. Contact your local life-affirming pregnancy resource center to see how you can help.

6. Spend time in prayer for those that have previously terminated the life of their own children. Be merciful and gracious to those dealing with the decision that changed their lives forever.

Human Coalition rescues babies from abortion by connecting abortion-minded women and men to local, life-affirming centers using advanced Internet technology. The at-risk women receive truth, compassion, grace and an ultrasound.
