Every year since 1974, thousands of pro-life activists from around the U.S. have marched from the National Mall to the U.S. Supreme Court protesting the landmark Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion.

This year Human Coalition once again had the privilege of being in D.C. for the March for Life. It was a momentous occasion! The first U.S. president to ever speak at the National Mall at the March, President Trump stated,

“It is my profound honor to be the first president in history to attend the March for Life. We are here for a very simple reason: to defend the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential.”

And that is exactly what we do at Human Coalition every single day. Through strategic partnerships and planning we are always thinking of ways to rescue the next child faster.

Over the past few years, we have seen great strides made on the pro-life front. Referred to as the “most pro-life” president in history, Trump has been credited with appointing two pro-life Supreme Court justices as well as pushing through pro-life policies to protect human life. Trump stated at the rally,

“During my first week in office I reinstated and expanded the Mexico City policy, and we issued a landmark pro-life rule to govern the use of Title X taxpayer funding. I notified Congress that I would veto any legislation that weakens pro-life policies or that encourages the destruction of human life.”

While we take heart at the changes being made at the political level, we continue to push towards meeting the needs of women at risk to abort, so that even more lives can be rescued. One of the ways we continue to make progress is through important, strong pro-life relationships. This year at the March for Life, we had the privilege of partnering with two fantastic, like-minded organizations: the Heritage Foundation and the Family Research Council.

At our Life and Liberty Reception right across the street from the Senate, Kay Coles James, president of the Heritage Foundation, and one of the most powerful conservative women in the U.S., was our honored speaker. Mrs. James gave a riveting pro-life speech, sharing a personal story and answering questions afterwards.

The Heritage Foundation is known for and dedicated to formulating and promoting conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. Mrs. James has been a vocal and staunch defender for life and continues to be a prolific force in the pro-life movement. We are honored to count her and the Heritage Foundation as friends.

Following the reception, Human Coalition hosted a Life and Liberty Dinner for legislators, donors, and other pro-life organizations. We were encouraged and inspired by the witty and charismatic Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. Their mission is to advance faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a Christian worldview. Our own Rev. Dean Nelson, Executive Director of Human Coalition Action, interviewed Mr. Perkins for an informal Q&A session regarding pro-life issues and politics. Human Coalition is honored to have a national strategic partnership with the Family Research Council, and our working collaboration continues to yield exceptional fruit.

Lastly, we also were honored to sponsor and support Students for Life at their annual conference, networking and connecting with pro-life students and adults from across the country!

I hope and trust you are as encouraged as I am with Human Coalition’s strong ties to like-minded, faithful organizations. We are all working together to make abortion unthinkable and unavailable!
