Abortion clinics are closing in record numbers.1 Abortion rates are at their lowest level since 1973, the year the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade.2 More pro-life laws have been passed in the last three years than during the previous decade.3
While these achievements are worth commending, the sad reality is that even in the midst of numerous pro-life victories, it’s estimated that upwards of 1.2 million babies will still be aborted in the United States this year.4 These are children created in the image of God, knit together by His hands, and filled with the potential to make their mark in this world.
The Church must no longer remain on the sidelines and allow the legislatures and judicial system to determine whether or not we bring an end to America’s silent holocaust. Like William Wilberforce, the Christian 18th century social reformer who fought for three decades to end the slave trade in England, the Church must now commit herself to speak up for the most vulnerable among us and to “rescue those being led away to death” (Proverbs 24:11).
So in an effort to help mobilize American churches to become champions for LIFE, Human Coalition has hired Christian apologist and philosopher Dave Sterrett as the National Director of Church Outreach. Dave has authored or coauthored six books, including the Christian bestseller I Am Second and Is the Bible True…Really? And he has also contributed multiple articles to the Apologetics Study Bible for Students and written op-ed articles defending the existence of God and the sanctity of unborn children for major publications including The Washington Post.
