In January, pro-life individuals across the country observed Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, a day set aside to memorialize the estimated 58 million babies who’ve been aborted in America since the Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade in 1973.
Many courageous pastors and priests honored this day by preaching about the silent holocaust of abortion.
It is no easy task to preach about abortion from the pulpit. But as one of my favorite theologians, R. C. Sproul, points out, “Sanctity of Life Sunday is as fitting, as sensible, as reasonable as observing the Incarnation from the pulpit. Just as we must preach the glory of the incarnation…so we must preach the horror of this evil sometime, if not in January.”
I have carefully selected a few sermons that I know will inspire you to continue fighting the scourge of abortion in our country.
Several of these church leaders work alongside Human Coalition, our women’s care clinics, and participating life-affirming pregnancy centers to minister to abortion-determined women and men during a crisis pregnancy and throughout the parenting journey.
Please take a listen and let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
– Ted Kitchens of Christ Chapel in Ft. Worth, Texas, kicked off his sermon by defining the sacredness of life as explained through Scripture. He closed his portion of the sermon by exhorting the congregation to get involved in the Church’s call to help end abortion.I joined Pastor Kitchens at the pulpit to encourage his congregation with the good news that we are indeed winning the fight to end abortion.
– Every year on Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, Matt Chandler, Lead Teaching Pastor of The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas, gives a compelling sermon about abortion and our role as the Church to bring about its demise. Matt is particularly desirous to see the Church show mercy to those who have suffered at the hands of the abortion industry. Listen to his compassion-filled message here.
– You can also listen to the sermon I preached at Christ Community Church in Frisco, Texas, in which I discuss what it means to be God’s image bearers, and how that realization should compel us to rise up to protect innocent life.
– Jack Wilson, Pastor at Waterdam Church in my old stomping grounds of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, delivered a brilliant sermon about the sacredness of human life and our God-given role as His image bearers.
We are grateful for these courageous pastors who obediently addressed the difficult topic of abortion from their pulpits. They have done so with grace, honesty, and truth. Please join us in praying for them and their congregants as they continue to call on Christians to rise up and defend the preborn.
