“Adaira” came to the women’s care clinic after a positive home pregnancy test result. She’d just finished high school and was working toward getting a certification for her future career. Adaira explained to her Continuum of Care coordinator that she didn’t know what to do, because she couldn’t get insurance to cover her pregnancy. And without a job, she couldn’t afford her medical expenses.

Her Situation Was Complicated

To further complicate matters, Adaira didn’t have the support of her family in her decision to parent her child. She didn’t know what to do. With no money, and now pregnant, Adaira felt her future plans begin to disappear. She decided to go to our women’s care clinic to confirm her pregnancy and get some direction about what to do.

At the clinic, our staff gave Adaira a free pregnancy test and ultrasound. Adaira couldn’t believe she could see her tiny baby waving its little arms and legs. She left the clinic that day feeling conflicted between wanting to keep her child and facing the pressures and fears of her circumstances – and lack of family support.

Our Staff Encouraged Adaira

Throughout the following months, members of our clinic staff were able to help Adaira get affordable medical help and baby supplies. They continued to encourage her to follow her desire to keep her baby – even though her family was still pressuring her to abort.

Months later, Adaira gave birth to a precious baby boy, “Moses.” While the pregnancy had been difficult without the support of her family, Adaira’s family now welcomed her child and supported her decision.

It’s through your ongoing support that Adaira felt supported and loved enough to choose life for her child. On behalf of Adaira and Baby Moses, thank you for your commitment to provide life-affirming, compassionate care to at-risk women. We truly appreciate you!
