More PostsOn January 13, 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated January 22 as the first National Sanctity of Human Life Day.
He issued a proclamation that this day would be used to commemorate the many lives lost to abortion since January 22, 1973, which was the day the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion on demand in all 50 states.
Since then, churches around the United States use the day to celebrate God’s gift of life, commemorating the millions of preborn lives lost to abortion, and committing themselves to protect life at every stage.
Even though it is rarely reported by the media, abortion takes more lives each year than heart disease and cancer combined! In fact, since 1973, over 60,960,000 children have perished from abortion in United States, with over 891,000 more perishing every year! As January quickly approaches, don’t forget to mark this very important date on your calendar.
Sanctity of Human Life Sunday will be observed on January 20, 2019.
